Tips: Turn up the volume on the speakers during the character introduction bit (it was hard to hear them over the music) and have the music end with a decisive chord. Or an explosion.
I really hope you guys make it to television. I'd watch this show!
Author's Response:
Good thoughts about the audio. I've been messing with it for days but I felt they characters were a bit quiet. Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to figure a way to end the music.

I liked this. I love Soviet kitsch, and I think if there was a way to zoom in (as suggested by the guy below) this game would go from good to excellent. As it is, you can't go wrong with a float-control game and you're about three quarters of the way to victory on this.
P.S.S.R - If you do tidy up this game for a relaunch, might I suggest you have a look through the Audio Portal for different music. There's actually a track called "Soviet Lunar Mission," which I think would go excellently with this game. It has the same upbeat Marxist feel as this game.
Author's Response:
Thanks for the positive comments, i also love soviet kitsch and is one of the reasons i decided to do a game based in cold war russia. The game was originally designed to be viewed at a resolution of 1024 x 800 but i think i have found a workable size now after fiddling about with it. I'll check out that track in the audio portal, cheers

Pretty good game, but you never got around to providing the passwords that will let people jump to levels they've already been to. Also, there's a bunch of gibberish typed under "Click to Continue" (which I'm going to assume is not the password because it's about a hundred characters long).
Author's Response:
That's strange - the passwords and the inter-level messages are working fine for me in both Firefox and IE. The password should be on the yellow box between levels, and in the top-right of the window during the level itself.

The potential here is vast... but untapped. The idea for a game based on Newgrounds is incredible, but there's nothing here except the framework. You need in-jokes, level bosses (the 'Shoot Wade Fulp' preloader game was a step in the right direction), power ups, the works! Let your creative spirit latch onto those memes and DON'T LET GO.

I liked this. It'd be nice if there was a way to reset it after generating a spiral, so I could go back into the game and make modifications to the data I'd already entered.

Simply because it's not going to come up later, I loved the enemies in this episode (I assume Maloc is off somewhere nursing his permanently broken nose). My favorite was Random Guy. In the tenuous borderland between the Fourth Wall and Reality, there's an infinite amount of sympathy to be had for someone named Random Guy, whose dialog appears in pink. I hope he's recovering well.
I've watched all your NG movies, and this was the darkest (previous record holder: Love Us Forever). What separates them is that Love Us Forever seemed (at least to me) to be a genuine study in despair, whereas this feels more like a walk on a tightrope in a war zone. I have to wonder what Spike and Kiki do when they're "off duty" and not fighting in the battle arena or acting out something for the Director. Do they watch television? Play board games? What sort of dynamic do they have when not under a high load of stress? I'd love to know.
I'd also like to thank you for the nice message you sent me after I reviewed your last short. In the off-chance you should feel inclined to write me another, I urge you to invest the time in the pursuit of sleep instead. Judging by the amount of Red Bull you drink, and the amount of time you spent on this, you haven't had any for awhile. Take a nap, for God's sake. You've earned it.
Author's Response:
Yes yes, I just woke up from a nap.

Aahahahhaha!!!!
Random Guy, ahahahaha. Man! so funny how you bring up he has pink dialoug, ahahahhahah!! So funny you catch that. Your comment on him is so funny, ahahahh.
I really enjoy when people point out details or little things like you did.
Yeah, love us forever, i remember that one.
Spike and Kiki do whatever they want! You know, their lives are always amazing. There's never a lazy day with those two. Maybe for Maloc, ahhaha! BUT STILL, i've designed those guys to have amazing days no matter what. But yeah, super duper wise I know what you're saying.
Hmmmmmm! I don't know man, ahhaha! I only thought about that earlier today. But yeah, they're always doing something cool! So there's your answer, something cool, unique, vibrant, and memorable!
But lol, i think i'm sensing some direction from you. very funny., aahaahha.
Yeah, I'm recovering from SA5.
Thanks for your honesty, appreciation, and support!

This is pretty good for a first video game. I have a couple of suggestions:
1. Explain the controls (I've heard there was an attack but couldn't find it)
2. Give a backstory (So who's Ron, anyway?)
3. I suppose you could make the screen bigger, but for me it's not a priority.
Have fun!
Author's Response:
Well in the beginning there is a menu where the buttons are shown. =)
Also when you die you can jump to the menu.
Thanks for your review.=)

Intrinsically, this is not a very gripping game, but I think it shows real potential. The handling is good, but driving around in the same loop ten times didn't really grip me - plus, music would be nice. Why not make a sequel, where you get to different tracks by beating the one before under a time limit? You could choose fr different cars and have power ups and everything. It could be called Basic Racing Game II: The Widowmaker.
Or not. Just throwing that out there. Best of luck to you - drive safe!
Author's Response:
Sequel: You're stealing my brainwaves LOL! Yeah, a sequel to this may actually come out in the future. I have been working on putting music, better graphics, time limit, and cars. Powerups on the other hand will make my game look a bit too fake. I prefer to have that realism still there to it.
Drive safe: Lol, yeah, I will. I keep my bad driving for the video games (GTA, Burnout, NFS)
Thanks for the feedback.

I'm torn. This concept shows great potential, but there's a lot of stuff I think needs to be sieved out of it. If you're up for a little creative criticism, I have suggestions.
First, this should be more about Washington, so the name has to change. Anybody watching this would probably wonder if he or she was going crazy. Given, your user name is TheMentalInstitute, but I don't think you want people to be distracted by the sound of their own brains melting. Make it clear this is all about hardcore George Washington.
Secondly, I think you might want to remove some of the really crazy crap that shows up in the video. I laughed at the toucan mask, but the truck seemed a little over the top. Don't ask me why - it's just a toss-up. I'm also torn on the AK-47 that squirts water, but I'd leave the giant salamander.
Third - and this is only if you're feeling really ambitious: Replace the music and use - wait for it - one of Washington's OWN SPEECHES, set to a heavy-metal backdrop. That would be front page material, right there.
As it stands (that is, if you plan to make no modifications or a sequel), this is pretty good. I don't really get it, but it's pretty good.
Author's Response:
ah, thanks for the suggestions.
I called it Similar to Pyrite because I name all my music videos after the song they are of. I agree it should have been something else in this instance however.
Everything used in the video is from previous The George Washingtons cartoons I made. That's why some may have seemed out of place or weird.
Good ideas, if nothing else I'll take them into consideration when making another cartoon like this. Thanks.
